The Role of School Governors
Manor Lodge Community Primary School Governors provide strategic leadership and accountability in school. Governors appoint the headteacher and deputy headteacher and it is the governors who hold the main responsibility for finance in schools. Governors work closely with the headteacher to make the tough decisions about balancing resources and ensuring that all children at the school have the best opportunities to contribute to their individual learning.
Each governor is a member of a Governing body, which is established in law as a corporate body. Individual Governors may not act independently of the rest of the Governing body so all decisions are the joint responsibility of the Governing body.

The headteacher is responsible for the internal organisation, management and control of the school and the implementation of the strategic framework established by the Governing body.
Governance Structure at Manor Lodge
Full Governors – Meet once a term and oversees amongst others strategic direction, standards/progress quality of teaching, finance, staffing, inclusion and pupil premium
Finance/Resources Committee – Meet once a term and have responsibility for staffing, finance, buildings and use of pupil premium
Standards/Teaching & Learning– Meet once a term and have responsibility for teaching, curriculum, standards/progress, attendance, inclusion and effectiveness of pupil premium
