Dear Parents, Carers, Friends and Families,
Well what an extraordinary year 2019/20 has been. We started in September 2019, with a passion and purpose, to give your child the very best of learning that they deserve. Ofsted saw this passion and purpose and rubber stamped the provision that this wonderful school offers its community. Then we watched with anticipation as the impact of Coronavirus unfolded across the globe. Many of us have been affected personally (and professionally) by these events over the last 6 months. And for our children, this will have been a particularly confusing and emotional time.
It has often been customary to update our web site at the beginning of each academic year with a welcome message and an insight into what’s ahead and all the exciting learning we have planned for the upcoming months/academic year ahead and welcoming our new families to #teammanorlodge.
What I can say to you is this: rich curriculum, complete learning narrative, passion and purpose remains throughout our school. From September 2020, your child – whether a new starter or transitioning to a subsequent year group - will have a complete, rich and progressive curriculum on offer. Our hard working staff will ensure that any gaps in learning are filled rapidly whilst not forgetting all the wonderful subjects that impact on your child’s development.
How we deliver it maybe an evolving picture. There are many ‘unknowns’ ahead. These will largely be dictated to us by any regional and national directives or decision taken at a Governance or Trust level. All of these decisions will impact positively on your child or be in place to keep your child and our staff safe. You will see from the recent letters explaining some changes to the day and previous operational model we have, that we have had to make changes to keep your child and yourselves safe. Thank you for your understanding.
From September, school is no longer an option. We do expect all families to attend and if any of you are anxious or concerned, then please talk to us. We will be supporting any concerns or worries your child has and ensuring that their mental health is of paramount importance over the months ahead. Our 10 learning behaviours – around which our curriculum is built – have never been as important or relevant. Resilience; cooperation; perseverance; building self-esteem – to name but a few. These shall continue to be at the heart of our learning to equip your child with the skills and knowledge they deserve to be the best they can be.
Welcome, one and all, to a new start at Manor Lodge Community Primary School and Nursery.
We have the will; we’ll find the way!
Mr B Cuff
