For this week's maths learning, please look at the activities on the White Rose Scheme. We are now on Summer 2 - Week 8.
This week's maths is all about shape, 2D and 3D. Follow the links below for each lesson. These can be printed out to work on, or write your answers out on plain paper. Can you show your work to a parent or carer ? Maybe you could work on them together.

There is a video explaining the task and learning. For each lesson, there are a set of questions and answers. You can write the answers down, or tell the answer to a grown up or sibling. After you have done all of the questions, check the answers to see if you were correct.

The book we have chosen for this week is 'Polly and the Sock Beast'. If you do not have the book you can see and hear it by following this link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKOHm3Mmt4c
Task 1 - Can you make a list of Superpowers that Polly gets with her different coloured hair (red, blue,
white and green).
Task 2 - Write a character description for the Beast, was he really scary or not ?
Task 3 - Rewrite the story with a different type of hair colour for Polly. What could be happening to
her ?
Task 4 - Write a letter to the Beast and offer to help him ? Can you draw a picture of brightly coloured
socks on your letter ?
Task 5 - Draw and label a Beast of your own, use describing words for example, big, small, sharp, smelly,
hairy.

Our book for this week is 'Traction Man is Here'.

Task 1- Can you retell the story to your grown up? What kind of character is Traction Man? Who else is in the story? Can you tell the story from Traction Man’s point of view? Can you draw and label the characters?
Task 2- Imagine you are Traction Man. Can you play hotseat with some members of your family? One person sit on a chair and act in character of Traction Man, others can ask ‘Traction Man’ any questions about his adventures.
Task 3- Traction Man uses everyday household objects to carry out his adventures. Think of other objects and make a list of ways that Traction Man could use them .... or ways that they could cause a problem for him. This can be done a paper and sent to us at: homelearning@manorlodge.sheffield.sch.uk
Task 4- Traction Man has a pet scrubbing brush in the story. Use your imagination and write a set of instructions telling people how they can take care of a pet scrubbing brush. Don’t forget to number each instruction and begin with first, next, then… This can be done a paper and sent to us at: homelearning@manorlodge.sheffield.sch.uk
