Parent Questionnaire September 2019

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

All the staff and Manor Lodge and I would like to thank you for completing the recent Parent Questionnaire we sent out to you. We were truly humbled by the sheer number of responses: the most the school has ever received. Thank you.

The questions asked of our school community are the same that the Ofsted’s Parent View (2019). We felt it important to be consistent with these.

At the same time, we also questioned Pupils about their perceptions of school. We divided the pupils into KS1 (Years 1-2) and KS2 (Years 3-6) ensuring that we asked age appropriate questions to include all our children. Our Foundation Stage (EYFS) will be asked similar questions later on in the year, when they have had longer to experience our provision.

As you will see from the responses, the main area parents felt required our attention was communication about your child and their learning throughout the year.

87.5% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that communication was effective but 12.5% of you believe that we could do better.

We take your feedback seriously and I will meet with my Senior Leadership Team and Parent Governors to ensure that we have a plan of improving our communication channels where appropriate.

In the meantime, please do check your child’s bag for newsletters; correspondence and homework. We do try and send information, where relevant, but we will certainly look to see how effective this is, and if we can improve in anyway.

We have also made huge improvements to our school website in recent months. Please take the time to visit our website manorlodge.school where you should be able to find all the information you require about the school and what activities and lessons your children are undertaking this term. We welcome feedback about the website and suggestions as to how we could make it even better in the future wherever possible.

In any of the areas we didn’t reach 100% positive feedback or if you disagreed (or disagreed strongly) with any of the questions, the Senior Leadership Team will have spoken to you on a 1:1 basis or will endeavour to see you as soon as possible. These appointments will continue throughout this term. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.

Where the responses from the children were not 100%, we have also taken the time to speak to them on a 1:1 basis. This has been done through their teacher to illicit more information so that we can understand their reasoning in more detail.

The pupils’ comments were equally humbling. They were also encouraging and very perceptive! We will, as always, ensure the best provision possible for the children who make Manor Lodge so special.

Thank you once again for your support. With your children and your help we will continue to make Manor Lodge Community Primary School and Nursery a fantastic place of learning for all its children.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr B Cuff

(Headteacher)
