The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Three Billy Goats Gruff Story
Read the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Talk about it with your child. Encourage your child to use as much of the vocabulary as possible (see the vocabulary list in your pack or on the website)
• Why did the goats want to go over the bridge?
• Why do you think the smallest goat went over the bridge first?
• What does the troll look like?
• What happened to the troll at the end of the story?
We always read the story lots of times to the children encouraging them to join in with repeated words and phrases. Children need a lot of repetition to learn.

Purple Mash drawing activity:

Can you draw the three billy goats in their field?

This is a list of the words which we would like you to use when you are talking about The Three Billy Goats activities.

Writing task

Please use the Tips for writing sheet to help you support your child. Remember to use the phonics mat and don’t give your child a sentence to copy.

Look at the pictures again. What is your favourite part of the story? Tell me about it.

Write a sentence about your favourite part of the story. You can use the piece of paper with the Billy Goats on it. Some children find it easier to write on lines, so feel free to draw lines on the paper if it helps.

Challenge: can you write two sentences?
